Checked mine to see whether the batteries were due watering, they were, 650 a/h since last watering. So did a maintenance charge and refilled the batteries. Just to postscript this thread I've not had a single "fail to start" (tempting fate, or what) since I messed with the accelerator connector at the beginning of January, 7 or 8 weeks ago. So I guess that it was a dodgy accelerator connection. Many thanks again for all the advice. Evan
