When to Change brushes?

Just wondering when people change their brushes? Here's a picture of 1 my brushes I took today. I think it looks okay. Maybe 500-1000 miles left? I'd be interested in hearing other E500 drivers view on this subject. How close to the wear line do you change your brushes? https://sites.google.com/site...

Re: Sudden drop in range !!!!

Sorry to hear it Chris. That's a situation all E500 drivers dread.

Maybe measuring the pack voltages at full charge and again at the point when the recharge light comes could show which pack is causing the problem?

Re: Sodium-sulfur battery. What's new?

I found it surprising that a lot of the ideas discussed in that 1966 popular mechanics are some of the same ideas we're seeing again today. Also, the quality of those old magazine were really good, maybe more detailed with facts and figures than current editions. http://www.ukemergency.co.uk/index.p...

Sodium-sulfur battery. What's new?

Some interesting Sodium-sulfur/EV related links I stumbled on today. Dr. Michael Ference of the Ford Motor Co. with a model of the sodium-sulfur battery to power electric vehicles. Dated October 3, 1966. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1966-Ford-Motor-Electric-Vehicle-Battery-Press-Photo-/260780508196?pt=Art_...

Re: Differences between Mk1 and Mk2

I'm fixing an mk2 at the moment.

The coolant rad in the mk2 doesn't fit too well. Its a bit of struggle to get the cap out from the top of the reservoir.

@Tim Has he tested the van with another controller to eliminate the possibility of a damaged controller? Re: No go after motor change

AFAIK, A numbered faults are sensor faults (thermistors etc). A3 and A6 are Permanent fault: Engine thermistor short circuit to positive or open circuit Permanent fault: Coolant thermistor short circuit to positive or open circuit A3 is probably Permanent fault: Engine thermistor short circuit to po...
