Re: 300V pack for gas turbine hybrid
The project is on going and I have now just bought 64 Lifepo4 20Ah A123 look alike lipos to make a 200V or so pack. Tests on a small number bought previously suggest 10C should be possible i.e 40KW. Plus the 25KW from the engine should give the car reasonable performance perhaps approaching that of ...

Turnigy 150cc equivalent brushless outrunner motor
See review and characterisation: http://www.bungiehd.co.uk/Turnigy150CC.docx In summary the motor performed well and is recommended. It has high efficiency 85 - 88% over a wide operating range, is nicely made and mechanically smooth. A larger one of similar design (say longer stator) would be welcom...

Re: V2G
Long term it may have merit when batteries are routinely larger and cheaper but at the moment they are too precious. Surely grid support is better served by large lead acid batteries, where size and weight are not of much consequence. There are other technologies such as Vanadium Redox systems etc. ...

Re: Raised Internal Resistance on Hi-power Lifepo4 Cells
Anyone had experience of the 20Ah Lifepo4 poly cells on eBay, Aliexpress etc? On the face of it good prices if the quality OK. Supposed to be A123 e.g: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/A123-LiFePO4-Prismatic-APP72161227-PHEV-EV-E-REV-Battery-Preform-Tabs-3-2V-20Ah-/360874237482?pt=UK_Computing_LaptopsAcces...

Re: LEAF CHARGER PROJECT
I have a 2012 Leaf, done approx. 12K. The owners manual advices against regular fast charging as shortening the battery life. Also charge to only 80%. Don't charge to 100% then leave it, particularly in hot weather, advice from the USA. Mine is limited to 3KW I guess with the 13A lead. 6KW via a 32A...

Re: New toy.........
Hi Jeremy Could you update the thread on where you are with the project. I have bought one of these large motors, a turnigy C80100-180, and am wondering about doing my own drive electronics. I was wondering about using a relatively old fashioned circuit of a current fed inverter, i.e. a chopper stag...

Re: 300V pack for gas turbine hybrid
Thanks for the replies, food for thought there. We are looking for a 25 - 30KW contribution from the battery. So a suggested 100A limit for a pack with a system voltage of around 300V. The 24 x 12V lead acid system was float charged at 336V and draw restricted to limit depression to 240V. There is n...

300V pack for gas turbine hybrid
I'm looking for a better pack for this project: http://www.jetpower.co.uk/gtcar_home.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The turbine has a 208v 3 phase 400Hz generator which defines the buss voltage at around 300V. To get the project up and running, two 24 x 4.5Ah strings of UPS batte...

The Leaf is £26K now, they put the price up just as they become available.
