Re: Motor Coupling

That coupler looks very much like soft mild steel or at least not much better. You need to ask, why you have lost the spline (teeth). If you manage to get a like for like replacement it will possibly do the same thing? The centre of the original clutch has a fit for purpose hardened spline. All you ...

Charge connector in fuel flap

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where I can source a suitable socket connector to locate in fuel flap? I've found a few online, I think this is the standard now? (IEC 62196 EV Socket/G) or am I talking rubbish, can I just use standard outside 32 amp? What do most DIY projects use? T...

Re: Curtis dc controller

Just to be clear I think it's the motor that makes the actual noise but caused by the way the curtis controller works, apparently different to most other controllers?
That's what I was told?

Re: Curtis dc controller

Thank you for response Peter, the lack of noise on your controller gives me hope. Did you adjust it to be silent? Or that's just how it is, I've listened to them on YouTube, they seem to whine at low motor speed also spoke to a guy at Curtis UK who informed me they will make a noise as you pull away...

Curtis dc controller

Does anyone out there use or have used a Curtis 144 v dc controller? They seem to make high pitched noise at low motor rpm, some people like the sound  others dont :? Can it be adjusted out or subdued a little? The controller seems to have a good name and also a good price direct from Curtis U...

Re: AC DC?

Thank you Peter,
That's what I thought but not really qualified to say it.
The problem is there are not any motor / controllers of higher voltage than 96v in AC readily available for DIY projects.

Regards

Martin.

Re: AC DC?

Night train, My mechanical capabilities are well? Ok, :D electrical well? Basic. :( I know the difference between AC and DC but when it comes to the in,s and outs of motors all I know is they spin when powered up through suitable control, I leave the rest to higher beings than myself. That's why I'v...

Re: Direct drive or transmission?

Hi night train, Probably did not exlain myself well in the first post. The engine is out and box seperated, the gearbox centre to drive shaft coupling clearance was my problem, the motor diameter will not fit within, that's why I was considering not using gearbox and connecting motor to the rear dri...
