Yes, all very good points and they're still a way off the mark, pricewise, even then.
I was just hoping they might be going to start importing the sort of stuff Elite Power Systems do. We could do with someone like that in the UK.

Re: Found this supplier of LiFePO4 12v packs
Ok, as a follow up, I replied thus: Sounds very promising. The 40ah X4 would be ideal for my bike and the 80ah would suit a car which will be coming along in a year or so. I hope you won't mind if I pass on your reply to the Battery Vehicle Society's forum. Would there be any hope of bulk 'group buy...

Found this supplier of LiFePO4 12v packs
Hi, I haven't posted on here for a while as I had to sell up and postpone all hobby type stuff for a few years. Turns out kids need food...who'd have thought? Anyway I was having a trawl through the interweb to see how things had changed and I found this site http://www.deben.com/lithium-phosphate-l...

APC 3000 and 5000 both use 48v, which is quite easy to set up by running two 24v alternators (one to each half of the pack), but at least one needs to have an isolated ground (marine ones usually do) Or you could could fabricate an insulated bracket. I've never found anything larger than the 1500 on...

For a cheap pure sine wave inverter, try one of these . I've rarely paid more than a tenner for one (you don't need the internal batteries to work, so you can buy them as scrap). Just remove the internal batteries and connect to your 24v pack, which can be charged by a 24v truck alternator, mounted ...

Great to see that this can work.. I've been thinking out this kind of device for a while but I hadn't thought of the V cylinder idea. I was looking at using an actual commutator and replacing the armature windings with sliprings so you could switch the comm segments in and out. This would only give ...

Hi, I'm in Isleworth. I have a project under way but very little time so it's no more than a non running ice vehicle and a pile of motors, controllers and batteries at the moment. I hope I get time to move forward in the early spring and I think a chat and a few pints with like minded individuals co...

On teh remounting of suspension links, I was thinking i could keeop the bottom of the diff at the bottom still and just remove the halfshafts and axle tubes, spin the diff around and fit the left hand halfshaft into the old right hand diff side, and vice cersa. I recognise it would probably mean re...

On the axle reversal.. It sounds like a good idea but remember you'll need room for a shaft with a couple of UJs and a sliding joint before you get to the motor in order to allow the axle to move on the suspension while the motor stays put. On the other hand, you could mount the motor directly to th...
