MSIE Text Size

Hi Chris, Kate is partially correct. The proviso is that the web does not specifically set the size of the font. I tried increasing the text size in my IE, but it didn't have any afffect. Rob, out of curiousity, what version of MSIE are you using? Some prior versions didn't allow for proper magnifi...

Text Size

The fact that you are having a "battle" at all is a bit unfortunate. All web browsers that I have ever seen (MSIE, Firefox, Mozilla, Camino, Safari, and etc) allow you to change the text size. There are even keyboard shortcuts (usually CTRL +, CTRL 0, and CTRL -) to make changes quick and ...

Bravo to Nikki and Chris

Bravo to Nikki and Chris on the forum move! From what I can tell, the move has gone flawlessly, leaving me feeling just amazed and stunned. If only all of my projects went so well!

Update from MDI

AutoblogGreen just interviewed Miguel Celades from MDI. He stated that he's expecting people to be able to purchase compressed air hybrid cars "hopefully by next year". You can read the interview at http://www.autobloggreen.com/2007/06/09/autoblog-qanda-miguel-celades-sales-manager-of-mdi-...

A few figures

Okay, I've run a few figures: The basic formula I've been working with has been this E = PV * 450 which approximates the energy stored in a tank of air at 24 C. See http://biobug.org/scuba/scubatank/ for details. So, using a carbon fiber tank I found online as an example ( http://www.airhog.com/tank...

Usable Energy Storage

It's been discussed on the EV list many times and people who can do the maths have shown that the energy density of compressed air is less than that of good old 'wet' lead acid. The energy efficiency is about half that of lead acid! Paul, could you expand on that? According to the calculations I've...

CAES Power Plant

I think thats it Nikki , if the air vehicles are so wonderful where are they ??? Actually, if you check the Wikipedia page ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compressed_air_energy_storage ), you'll see that, according to the US Dept. of Energy, there are already two power plants relying on this technol...

Your post makes a few assumptions that don't quite add up. The tanks would obviously warm when charged and cool when discharged, but the inefficiencies in moving all of that air around could be used in other systems. The temperature differences could be used to power heat pumps for heating and cooli...

Further Info

According to the Wikipedia entry, ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_car ), The Air car range will be sold by MDI as well as by ZevCat, a US company based in California. Licenses are for sale, entitling the licensee to manufacture the Air car in other countries. Currently licences for manufacture an...

Now, is the compressed air vehicle truly practical and useful, or is it just a way to get headlines? Well, judge the CityCat for yourself: * Cost about £ 6,500 for the high-end model before tax * Top speed: 68 mph * Range 124 miles * On board compressor fills the tank from power off the grid in ...
