Re: Audi TT conversion
If you come across a suitable AC set up then, yes, it would be a good way to go. Is there any reason for not going with DC, aside from a brush change? Also regen may or may not be of much benefit depending on the driving that you want to do and the terrain you are driving on. What realistic range an...

Re: Audi TT conversion
In real life terms there is little difference between AC and DC performance for the average budgeted DIYer. AC costs more but the benefits of AC can be outweighed by spending the price difference on better batteries and controller on DC. For a first project DC is easier to work with and can be up gr...

Re: Mega Pick Up. Any long term issues?
Thank you, I don't think they do a lithium version though. The range is stated as 62 miles and the current vehicle only does about 20 miles a day at most and two vehicles would be replacing the one. The current Bradshaw only just manages to do the day's work if it is in peak condition with warm fres...

Mega Pick Up. Any long term issues?
My other half's employer is looking to purchase two Mega Pick Up trucks to use for inner city waste collection services. Having visited and spoken with Bluebird and ePower they have decide to go with Mega as a replacement for the aging Bradshaw FB2 they are currently using. Does anyone have any long...

Re: Long range lithium conversion
Nothing mad about wanting and achieving a decent range on electric. It would be good to catch up properly again. I've done nothing at all with my project, too busy getting well and finding a new outlet for my skills to provide an income now that I am unable to teach. PM me details of where an...

Re: Long range lithium conversion
How are you, and the Berlingo, doing Tim? I reckon it is time I had another play with the long range conversion now I am in a bit better health.

Re: Got my donor car! MR2 mk2 G Limited
8mm pitch? My Harley was running on a 14mm pitch belt. If you can find someone who can cnc a belt pulley that would be good. I can't fit a belt pulley on mine as the working diameter for the rear would be too big to clear the swing arm. It needs to be big so that the driving pulley isn't too small f...

Re: Got my donor car! MR2 mk2 G Limited
I'm stuck on the back wheel, (yours is impressive). I'd prefer to drive a single 13" car rim like the front wheels have, with brakes and a belt possibly on a swingarm. Just need to find the right donors and bits. Andy Forgot to answer this bit. Look for single sided swing arms. Honda VFR, BMW ...

Cheers Beemer, yeah, that motor is a bit 'chunky' but hey, it'll be a hot rod.

It weighs in at about 110kg but the wire wheels add a considerable amount of weigh in themselves.
