My schematic is here http://www.dillond1.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/agmslave.png Based on Peters but with a few changes here and there. Notice the external load resistor connects to the screw terminals, I'm guessing it'll take more balancing to bring 12v 160ah into check than the smaller lithium cells. De...

Got batteries at last!

I've got my batteries at last. Funny how they always seem bigger and heavier than you think! I used Sec battery and got 13 of their 160ah red top agms. That's 611kg of worry. Once I get them mounted somehow I'll make up the network cables to the correct length and start experimenting with the BMS. S...

insurance

Peter, you could try Adrian Flux for insurance. I used them for my old Lancia twin cam powered Lada riva 8) and they were fair. They are quite popular with the street rodder types too. I got a couple of the Kicchips to play with but have not done anything with them yet. I have made no progress on th...

I got my lev200 from evsource cheaper than I could get it in the UK. Price currently is lev200a4anf (no aux contacts) £60 plus 20% for assorted (UK) taxes and lev200h4ana(aux contacts) £78 plus 20% for assorted (UK) taxes. That excludes postage however but as I was ordering a load of stuff it ...

Greg, For the master board to run on 24 volts you can make up a simple regulated power supply using an LM7812, a few capacitors and a diode. This goes between the 24v supply and the 12v connector on the master board. The onboard voltage regulator is for the picaxe and other 5v stuff. If your slave i...

Thanks Greg We exchanged a few emails a while back and you gave me that link. I phoned them at the time to get an idea on price, but the price of lead was very high at the time so they were fairly expensive. I'll definitely try them again though. The difference in price between gel and agm was not m...

A few of the guys on the EVDL have been talking about them. I think Valence, like most of the non Chinese firms only want to deal with OEMs. You could do a search of the EVDL archive for extra info.

Hope I'm not too far off topic. I will be needing a lead acid pack for my car and would welcome any advice as to where to source AGM style batteries. I need 160-200ah 156v and my controller pulls up to 500 battery amps (1000 motor amps). Could a gel battery ever be man enough? My take on the ...
