Thanks for the info and suggestion, John. A relay is probably the end solution for this problem, but I never would have thought that the controller would create so much ripple on the battery side. I do notice that Lucas did not put any bulk capacitance across the input to controller, maybe due to th...

Fried cap in charger while driving -- thoughts on why?
Chris, Thanks for the reply. Mine does whine, but it seems to also make a low frequency chattering sound at very low speeds. Chattering is the best word I can come up with at the moment to describe the sound. It sounds a little more mechanical than a whine. This may be a situtation of my not knowing...

Fried cap in charger while driving -- thoughts on why?
Ok - question time for current or former CF electric owners, or anyone who knows something about them... I have a Zivan NG-3 charger sitting in between the two front seats. I use that charger for the obvious purpose - to charge the traction battery pack. So far, it has worked just fine. While drivin...

Original Chloride batteries are long gone. It is now running on a set of 36 US Battery US-2000s. These are basically standard 200AH golf car batteries. I'm going to post a question about a problem I had while driving the Griffon today, but I'm going to start a new thread in the Bedford CF forum as t...

Thanks, Chris. Better late than never! LATEST NEWS on THE GRIFFON: Drove her to work for the first time today. Don't get too excited - it's only a little over a mile from my house, and at speeds no greater than 25 mph (40 km/hr). But so far, so good! I've got an ammeter in series with the motor cont...

My 1985 Bedford CF EV -- a passenger version!
Haven't actually put it on the road just yet. Right now I've got the battery tray out from under the vehicle. Since this van has a 216V system, it has 36 6V batteries in series. The original Chloride batteries are long gone, and it currently has a set of US Battery US-2000s. A faulty watering system...

My 1985 Bedford CF EV -- a passenger version!
