Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread
the opto's that i used were K817P6 (CTR of 100%-300%,) which is what is shown on the "24 slave multi board" parts list that peter linked me to with google docs. I've had an issue with these, as only some of them work, and on closer inspection i saw that the optos on the board peter sent me...

Re: Old BMS Software Thread
i added another 330 ohm resistor in parallel, and it didn't solve the problem. then, leaving the 330 ohm in place, i carefully placed a second opto on top of the one soldered to the board, AND IT WORKS!. but it quit working when i removed the second 330 ohm. i guess i just need to order a bunch of n...

Re: Old BMS Software Thread
the part numbers are all for the same part and the data sheet says nothing about the different versions. The ones i have are all K817P, which the data sheet says has a CTR of 100-300%. i agree though this is likely the problem, i'll test it in the morning. it's 1:22 am here and -39C outside so i thi...

Re: Old BMS Software Thread
just noticed something, that COULD be causing the problem although i have no idea why it would. these are the optos that i ordered: http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Vishay/K817P6/?qs=xCMk%252bIHWTZMmbJHc6BgWrA%3d%3d http://www.vishay.com/docs/83522/83522.pdf looking VERY closely at the letters pr...

Re: Old BMS Software Thread
changed the opto, checked continuity between pin 2 on the master opto and pin 5 on the pic, checked that there is 330 ohms between pin 1 of master opto and cell 3+ (i measured 327 ohms) checked continuity between pin 3 master opto and pin 2 master bus, checked continuity between pin 4 master opto an...

Re: Old BMS Software Thread
using the pre-built slave board you sent me, it works with my six test cells. but when i plug in the board that i built up, it's saying "cell three serial" error. i can go in and edit the number of cells down to 2 and it works fine, but it seems to have a problem with cell 3. but i can sen...

Re: Old BMS Software Thread
here's what it looks like mounted to the PCB, there is a guy here in the US selling the little boards (empty) for 3 dollars each and said he has quite a few of them. the bus bar will be drilled and tapped, and the pcb held in place with nylon bolts. the great thing about this current sensor is that ...

Re: Old BMS Software Thread
set up the current sensor, it seems to be working quite well! using a little tiny melexis surface mount sensor (this one) that we took a few measurements on and changed the math around some, it should have a range of +/- 1500 amps (3000 amp range) with a resolution of about 1.5 amps. with a little b...

Re: Old BMS Software Thread
we made the temp work in F now, but i think we probably decreased the maximum working temp by a factor of 1.8, by keeping the resolution the same as it was. this should still be fine though, as the battery pack should never operate anywhere near the 125C (or 257F) that the sensor is capable of. what...

Re: Old BMS Software Thread
temp sensors are working now! i was a little confused with the BE and the 44 at the end of the lines but i figured them out without too much trouble, and then left myself a note in the software for next time (: has anyone got a version that displays in Fahrenheit instead of Celcius? i was going to w...
