Apologies are indeed in order. Sorry Mr. Ping!

Phew! Turns out my poor wiring was indeed at fault - a schoolboy mistake but not as bad as putting a 36v battery in a 48v system would be! I've replaced the rubbish wires with good solid ones from the power lead to a fan heater, as they're notorious for quaffing down the kilowatts. I've just g...

Re: My new ping- lights on BMS not working

Woah! Chill dude! I have two bikes. The one I'm talking about is this: http://www.evalbum.com/1370" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It's the Sakura s200, which uses 36v 15ah batteries to power a 200w motor, and I have indeed replaced like for like. Just got a reply from Ping - it might...

Re: My new ping- lights on BMS not working

It's early days, but I'm not very impressed. It's fine as long as you don't carry any additional weight (god knows how it will deal with my trench coat come the next cold snap) but as soon as you put any amount of luggage in it, it hates hills and it has to be pedalled at least as much as it did wit...

Re: My new ping- lights on BMS not working

@Jonathon - That's exactly what happened. Glad to hear it's normal. @ Jeremy - that doesnt' increase my confidence in the technology, but as I mention in the other thread, Ping's customer service is so good that it outweighs the somewhat balky, jerry-rigged feel the battery has. It just feels so goo...

Re: New Ping battery reads 10 volts!

Yaaay! Got it fixed! Good old Mr. Ping! He wrote to me straight away even though it was the middle of the night in China. I'm so impressed with his customer service that it compltely outweighs any problems with the battery. Took it out for a four mile run and it's 39 volts (was 42.5v at the start). ...

New Ping battery reads 10 volts!

Charged it up and everything seemed fine, and now this! Also some swelling seems to have occured. I'm not impressed. I did have to move the BMS after I charged it but nothing happened when I did this, no sparks, nothign to indicate that anything is wrong. Have written to Ping. Any tips? SHould I try...

Re: My new ping- lights on BMS not working

 Ah yes - they've come on now  - all red like me! Is that good? The manual I downloaded said to leave it on for 10 hours first time round - guess I'll do that, although I'd like to get going as soon as poss. I'd just put it on charge when I posted. Fitting it to the bike is going to be t...

My new ping- lights on BMS not working

Well, I got my Ping battery and running into trouble. Plugged everything together as advised, then when I plugged in teh charger there was a popping sound and the charger's light went on, even though it was not plugged in. Have switched on the charger at the mains and now it seems to be charging but...

Re: Ping Batteries in cold weather

36v 15ah. Costing more than triple the amount SLAs of the same capacity were costing. It's going in the old SLA box, which slides neatly into the body of the bike - it's one of these: http://www.evalbum.com/818" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Guess I'll go for option (c) as at least t...
