Re: Old BMS Software Thread

Just a quick update: Remote display built, boxed and working nicely. So nice not to have to keep running out to the garage to check on charging progress :D However, due to the seriously bloaty nature of my C software (I could probably have made it much smaller at the expense of its interrupt-driven ...

Re: Remote Display Board Version 1

Thanks Peter - after I'd posted that last night I did some more testing and found that when no data is received for a while the buzzer makes a weird rising whine, and that explains why :) I'm actually sending quite a lot of data because I want to monitor most of the parameters while it's charging bu...

Re: Remote Display Board Version 1

After a bit of pain sorting out a way to get round the apparent unreliability of the serial LCD I bought, I now have a (mostly) working Remote Display :) However, I'm a little confused by the piezo sounder circuit - the only time I got any noise out of it was when I had a very rapid loop that happen...

Re: Duff/weak cell?

It did occur to me today that as it's 2 cells connected in parallel, if one of the cells in the pair was duff I might only be getting 12AH instead of the intended 24AH, explaining why it drains and charges quicker than all the others?

Duff/weak cell?

Being relatively new to the world of LiFePO4, I'm wondering if I've got a duff Headway cell or whether it's just "weak". It's always the first one to get up to voltage on charge, and this evening I did a bit of a range test and this same cell nearly tripped my controller cutoff when I saw ...

Re: Old BMS Software Thread

They do look good, trouble is I already bought the components for the remote display while I was ordering the bits for the main BMS  Another thing I am going to do to my software is inhibit the controller until the reference current reading has been read - I took the scooter out for a run last...

Re: Old BMS Software Thread

Now it looks like I'm finally going to be charging more regularly I want to see about adding remote display support to my C software, but I'm puzzled by this line in the PBP code Peter?

serout DriveInhibit, N2400, [85, 85, 85, 85, 85] 'Txd 5 byte preamble to clear Rxd

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread

Yes, I'm very pleased with it - it seems to be performing faultlessly and is doing the job admirably. I'd recommend it for the reasons I got it, as its functions are very comprehensive and it is a fun project to work on, but I think it may be a little over the top for someone who just wants an off t...

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread

Just as an update on this, the reason the voltage dropped so low is because I was using dummy loads. The voltage stays acceptable (i.e. just above the pack voltage) when charging as you'd expect, but the current still won't drop below 1.3A. However that seems to be perfectly good for my purposes as ...
