New AGM batteries now available
I fully expect the usual barrage of criticism from the usual suspects at the mention of Elecsol, but the AGM, repeat AGM and not flooded lead acid batteries, are now on the market. Check the Tayna website for one. If you do your research you will find that the claims are for better performance, in m...

Re: EV Regulations should we seek change? from Ed. in Plymouth
Lets leave things as they are! Uniquely in the EU we are able to build kit and self designed/built cars, trikes or bikes in the UK and register them for road use. The Netherlands are just introducing a version of our IVA for cars, but I can't imagine this spreading to less liberal minded nations. Th...

Re: Carbon fibre AGM batteries!
I started this thread not to discuss the performance of Elecsol flooded batteries, but to draw attention to the forthcoming AGM carbon fibre batteries-a totally new technology.

Re: Carbon fibre AGM batteries!
The AGM batteries are totally new and will hopefully combine the perceived advantages of AGM with a long life expectancy suggested by the longest guarantee in the field. The current flooded Elecsol batteries are a redesign, so will hopefully match the bold claims. The website specifically mentions E...

Carbon fibre AGM batteries!
A couple of UK based battery suppliers including Tayna are announcing a new technology from Elecsol. The carbon fibre AGM batteries will be available in 220 and 270Ah capacities and come with an unmatched year warranty. No sizes or weights are given but availability appears to have been pushed back ...

Re: Anyone got any experience of NUMAX CXV batteries?
Your trike project sounds similar to mine. I'm nearly on the road. There is some info on my Kirk EV (or Sparky) on EVAlbum. I need 27 miles to get to work where I will charge up for the return, so I went for 6*110AH batteries. The 110Ah is, of course, the C20 rate. The manufacturer, Elecsol, made me...

Re: Pictures of my EV
Peter, I got my insurance from Adrian Flux. They also pose under the name of Bikesure as I discovered after a telephone merry-go-round, where one company passed me on to another before I ended up back where I started! I paid about £360 for unlimited mileage with recovery (which, of course, I will ne...

Re: Pictures of my EV
Yes, thats it. It needs some paint and I have a few points to clear up after it failed MSVA, but I don't suppose many people have passed first time with a scratch built vehicle.

Pictures of my EV
I have posted the occasional description of my nearly on the road EV trike before. Would you like to see a photo? Unfortunately I can't find a way to post one here due to computational incompetance, but you could look in EV Albums. My trike is a Kirk EV nicknamed "Sparky". It is No. 1294. ...

Re: ETRIKE BY MILLS EXTREME VEHICLES LTD
Stuart, they gave me a copy of page 16 of the manual. (I have a download of the origional draft, anything for free!) Section 3 refers to "motorcycle tricycle or motorcycle quadricycle" which can have either 2 independant service brakes or a single line service brakes acting on all wheels. ...
