Re: ETRIKE BY MILLS EXTREME VEHICLES LTD

Stuart, I have built a self designed trike which is similar in many ways to yours. I'm hoping for 60mph (I did 43mph up a steepish hill) and 40 mile range (I only need to do 27 miles). I failed MSVA last week because a trike with 2 wheels at the front must have a single foot operated brake pedal act...

Re: 2010 Kit car shows, and the BVS, from Ed

I failed MSVA on my electric trike yesterday, but will pass at the next attempt, I just need to do some tweeking. I have attended Newark for the past 6 years with my ICE trikes and would enjoy exhibiting "Sparky" this year. How could I get it there from Chorley? Driving is not an option an...

My EV lives!

Things have moved on since I posted this in December. I passed MSVA (a detailed MOT) about a month ago and after the usual nightmare with registration my number arrived today. I'll add to the thread below with all the excitng information about my early drives, but for now I'm just reaching the end o...

I haven't read all of the info above but it seems you have not yet bought your motor. I would suggest you look at 2 Etek RT motors. They are rated at 72v so you can power them easily with a 144v battery pack of any type. I bought one motor for my trike from Electric Motorsport in San Fransisco for $...

Greenbeast, my battery pack of choice is 6 Elecsol 110Ah carbon fibre lead acid batteries. They weigh 25.2kg each and are suprisingly compact. I have heard reports of poor life expectancy but here is my recipe which I hope will sort this. I will not charge to >14.4V (per battery) as Elecsol say you ...

I am building an electric trike to my own design. I have built 4 previos trikes with scooter engines. The MSVA test is quite tricky but plenty of people manage it. Insurance is easy. I'd suggest you get a copy of "Complete Kit Car", it's full of the kind of info you need. I will post info ...

You can build an EAPC, that is an electrically assisted pedal cycle with three wheels, optional pedal assistance, and a max power of 250W. The max. speed at which the motor can drive you is 15 MPH. The assistance must reduce up to 30MPH where it must cut off completely. Otherwise you need MSVA for a...

Negative experience

Last weekend I visited the National Kit Car festival at Newark. Since I am now starting to assemble a self designed, self built electric three wheeler. I tried to speak to the Battery Vehicle Society. My experience was very negative. Members showed no intrest in an obviously enthusiastic visitor, th...
