In my conversion, I eliminated the clutch and have no problems up or down shifting. I do not, however, bash it from gear to gear rather I give the synchro rings time to do their thing. Porsche 924 5 speed with a 6.7" motor.

The transmision in the Porsche is the stock unit, a 5 speed transaxle and the motor is a D&D ES15A-6 which is a 6.7" (sorry qdos - 170mm) series wound. Yes yes - I know that it's too small but for my purposes it'll do. The temp readings come from a thermocouple which is indeed buried in one...

GP car (green porsche)
The E-Porsche hit the road today and under it's own power this time. It is readily apparent that motor temperature will be my limiting factor. Ambient here is lo 80's and even with the hood off the thermocouple showed 350 F at one point. Lifting on the throttle and/or downshifting quickly brings it ...

help help she no go
Connected the last wire, rolled the E-Porsche out into the drive, flipped the switches, pushed on the not gas pedal and nothing. I am using an Alltrax 7245 but looking at a Curtis manual. It's all I have. The controller has 4 spade connectors for control but the manual shows only 3. Please tell me I...

pre-charge resistor
My 84 volt system showed an impressive arc when the contactor pulled in. I now know that this was due to current inrush to the controller capacitors and decided that perhaps I should have a resistor across the points as recommended by Curtis. I attempted to buy one from EV-America and was told that ...

problem?
Malcolm You were right. To prove it, I put a 250 ohm resistor in the battery loop, was rewarded with a small flash then (after getting myself emotionally prepared) jumped over the resistor with a piece of 18 ga and vwah-lah no sparkys. I feel so much better. tommyt

Do I have a problem?
Just finishing the Porsche 924 conversion. I have an Alltrax 7245 and an isolated 84 volt system. The Albright contactor has a 12V coil operating on the vehicle system so I am able to pull it without energizing the 84V system. This I did while the last battery cable was disconnected. I then flashed ...

low rolling resistance tires
If I were capable of operating this computer I would post one of those high-lighted link thingies but I'm not so I won't. Go to Wikipedia and look for "Low-rolling resistance tyres". They have reprinted some results from an SAE paper which gives rolling resistance coefficients for ever so ...

lrr tires (tyres)
What does anyone think about the Michelin "Exalta AS" tire. Low rolling resistance they say and they had better be at $96 ea in 205-60-15.
