Re: Anyone know anything about the Smart Electric?

Have now purchased a 2013 smart for the conversion. As it was a Cat C write off the first thing I need to do is repair the car. Yesterday I went back to the breaker for the wheels, stalks and the front chassis leg which has been bent on mine. Today trucks seem to have been arriving all day with vari...

Re: Free home charging connection?

I went for a 32 amp menekees socket from british gas which cost a bit extra. This is for my Leaf and I need the lead anyway for charging at shopping malls etc. I will need a menekees to menekees lead when I get the Smart built as it has that type of socket. Getting a J1772 captive lead would have be...

Re: Sighting of BYD E6 at Pease Pottage Services

Yes this is a thriev vehicle presumably about to pick up from Gatwick when charge completed. Not sure how much charge power it can take from the three phase lead.

Do you know how to contact the BYD, cannot find out on the internet?

Axiam Mega electric

Discussing with the seller of rolling car on Ebay, he says he has the gearbox and clutch available. Does electric still have a clutch? Rory PS. Now finally got some sense out of the seller, it just has a fixed ratio and final drive as you would expect. He wants as much for the gearbox as for the car...

Re: AXIAM CITY BATTERIES

Unfortunately continuing to replace lead batteries makes little sense due to their short life. Lithium although more expensive is much better value through lasting aprox 10 times as long. The charger need not be such an issue, I know many instances where a charger supplied for lead use has been suce...

Sighting of BYD E6 at Pease Pottage Services

Today I saw this vehicle charging on a 43 KVA renault style AC lead. Looking it up I think it is an E6 which apparently has a 60KWh battery and range of 200 miles. It was a london Private Hire Vehicle. Quite a big car which the picture does not show, Further research has revealed that the initial de...

200 mile range Leaf anyone?

Just thinking through what would be required to double the battery capacity on the leaf. I imagine a false floor in the boot could accommodate quite a few cells. But how to connect them? Ideally you would just add more cells to each voltage level but it may be more feasible to leave the existing pac...

Brush Timing Advance on DC Motors

I have a Forklift motor in my Chinquechento and it gets hot fairly quickly. I have read references to bush timing needing to be advanced for EV use. I am trying to remember my motor theory from college all those years ago. Just have this nagging feeling it should actually be retarded. I suppose it c...

Re: British Gas Charger

In my view chaos and confusion reins. I was asked to pay up front and there are now 2 more options. The universal charger at 16 or 32 A cost 60 or 130 if I remember. They are now expected to do 4 per day it would seem, I foolishly chose the last slot of the day so may be disappointed.

British Gas Charger

Hi All Just got the phone call today from British Gas about installing my charger. They offered the 99 pound upgrade which they state will allow me to charge in 4 hours as I have a 2013 Leaf. I explained that I do not have the 850 pound option of a 6.7 Kw charger so actually it wont be any quicker. ...
