Granny Mode

Remember you have to drive verryyyyy carefully at low speed about 40-55mph to get my sort of mpg consistently, it's quite an art. A more realistic mpg for a "Normal" driver at "Normal" speeds would be 75-85mpg in an unmodified manual car. (The CVT version does about 10mpg less) H...

An Insight into a Honda Insight.

An Insight into the Honda Insight. (Possible article for BVS magazine, comments welcome) :) As many of you reading this will know I am an avid EV fan, with a passion for electronic and mechanical tinkering built up over 40 years (I am 45 now). I have built three road going EV’s and several el...

Full MIMA test.

Now had a chance to really get to grips with new MIMA computer system on a decent run. This clever upgrade from Mike Dabrowski an American Insight Enthusiast has resulted in a 10% increase in mpg from the sublime to the ridiculous! This is a drivers mod because it requires thought and skill ...

BMS

Also, wasn't Peter Perkins (SolarVan) working on his next gen Mark2 version of BMS for his TS battery pack? I was, but as necessity is the mother of invention, with Cedric's cell monitors in place, I haven't needed to do anything more with my BMS system. Time is also a luxury I don't have mu...

MIMA For the Honda Insight.

I have just completed a mod on my car and Installed MIMA (Manual Integrated Motor Assist) a clever computer from American Insight Enthusiast Mike Dabrowski. This can give an improvement on mpg of from 5-15% at no extra energy cost. It is not a plug in mod like the Prius which uses grid power to exte...

Servicing

Is it expensive? No more than any other car. There are no after market parts available as too few made, so everything is genuine Honda. :o Engine takes 2.5L of synthetic 0W-20 oil and filter every 9000 miles/yearly or so about £40.00. Honda's are almost always at the top of the reliability tables...
