Re: 8 Battery Lead Acid Slave Board
The car's on the road!! I am legal and mobile. Cheap insurance and free road tax, I'm a happy grinning EV pilot. The car is much noisier inside than it is outside. British leylands crappy gearbox, sounds like a Landrover! A bit of sound deadening and hole sealing should do the job though. BMS is ge...

Re: 8 Battery Lead Acid Slave Board
MODIFIED ZIVAN: After a little playing around I now have a more controllable Zivan. The way things are with the Zivan is quite fortuitous, it means my charger will normally run "throttled" down and the BMS will be required to tell the charger to go to full throttle (useful failsafe). I am ...

Re: 8 Battery Lead Acid Slave Board
HARDWARE: All the serial comms are working now 8) I have bypassed the transistor on the masterbus output on both boards as I couldn't get it to work properly. The fall time of the square wave looked a little slow but I just don't know enough to fix it, I must have been driving it incorrectly but the...

Re: Old BMS Software Thread
Martin, On the speed sensing front, I have included a scope capture showing what I get out of the Warp speed sensor and it gives a 4.5V high and 0V low. In the Master .txt files the pulsIn parameters show a '1' for measuring a high pulse width yet the comment in the .txt file refers to measuring Vss...

Could be a candidate for the ACME "ElCheapo" fibre link  Probably not much difference in price from a dc-dc converter. http://www.dillond1.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/cheapo1.JPG" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; http://www.dillond1.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/cheapo2.JPG" onclick="win...

Re: 8 Battery Lead Acid Slave Board
SERIAL COMMS: Had a lot of trouble over the weekend getting my master and slave boards to communicate. Seems the main trouble is that the built in pull-up resistor on the Avago fibre receiver is too strong (1K) for the wimpy parallel opto to overcome so I've had to do a little stanley knife PCB adju...

Re: General questions about the BMS project here please.
it's reporting a voltage of 1.82V on each, even though the meter says 3.35V or so Just a crazy thought, but if the voltage reference ic were inserted back to front (not easy with to92 I guess) could that give you the dodgy readings you have? (reverse voltage is 1.2, forward voltage at 15ma and 25ce...

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread
Hi Greg The Propeller does look awesome. I reckon it'll be a wee while before I outgrow the picaxe though. I don't fancy learning a new language until I'm a Jedi master at BASIC and that could take forever  Love the idea of surface mount and "toaster technology". I reckon I'll have a ...

Re: 8 Battery Lead Acid Slave Board
I have been creating my master software and have found a couple of hardware issues. The Tellymate should have had a pullup resistor on the reset pin (pin1) which was not shown on the Tellymate schematic. I also needed to put a 75R resistor across the RCA connector because the cheap portable dvd play...
