interestingly, that motor looks very very similar to one I constructed a couple of years back - which I made using the stator from an aged 110v builders drill! I never really used that motor for anything as the project it was going in developed to the point it was overkill, I might have to dig it ou...

very interested in the photos. Re: the hall sensors - this comes from very limited knowledge (my Dad showing me hall sensors when I asked "what how and where" ) but the ones I saw fitted were drilled into the stator teeth up through the windings. Whether or not they have to go there is an ...

excellent progress then Jeremy! That is remarkable service door to door.

Reading the Evaira site, it sounds to me more like they are using disc motors like the csiro - something else I am toying with re-creating (though that opens up a whole new can of worms for me!)

superb - only one thing better than experimenting with new setups... letting someone else pay for any mistakes first then bug them with questions later

I'll be keeping a close eye out for reports - just a shame it's going to take a while to get them here from Hong Kong!

Sorry, meant to say thanks for the link to that recumbent - had a good long look at that, and was initially very excited by the motor, right up till I saw the cost of it...! Just realised you are probably not aware of an excellent resource for these motors - a yahoo group called LRK_torquemax. Ron (...

Have to say this has really got my brain going at the moment. I was aiming to build the MEV trike (or at least, a variation on it!) to a point where it would be capable of 50+ mph for 30 miles, and had really decided on one inwheel motor per front wheel, of around 4kw per motor. I was looking at a l...

qdos, without wanting to go too far OT, what sort of overall KV'age would you foresee for a multi-motor setup in that trike? Sorting the motors out is the one thing stopping me buying the plans at the moment (well, that and spending £50 before I really have to ;) ) I'm considering doing away with...

Hi Del I'm sitting on the sidelines here following this thread with keen interest. I have to say it's good to have some input from someone who uses these motors. At a recent show we did there was a youong 14 year old lad who had oodles of knowledge in batteries, motors and controlers who chatted wi...

I've been an avid RC'er for some time now, I build all my own motors for my electric aircraft, anything from a few watts using a stator from a CDRom drive up to kw's using the stators from power drills. Multiple motors has been utilised in the RC scene on occasions, sometimes with more success than ...
