Good video there.

Were all the screws that long? If they were then it is likely that all the DC-DC converters are coming out of the factory like that and it is pot luck if the screw rips into the cap or not.

That's not very good. Fortunately you are able to strip, fault find and fix it, and it was a relatively easy fix. If you couldn't fix it yourself then I guess it would be a costly trip back to China and they probably would cover it if you had taken it apart. I will think carefully before committing ...

Yes, they are. But where the AC motor is efficient then the DC series motor the AC controller can be less efficient then a DC series motor controller. In the end the efficiency might not be that different. You do gain regen if you really need it but AC controllers tend to be more costly and DC pm mo...

Yep, I have a few of those still knocking about that I might dig out and either try to sell on ebay or weigh in.

If you have a controller then it might be good operating a lathe.

I go with meeting there anyway and enjoying the music. If there is stuff to discuss then there is always a retreat to the toilet foyer downstairs, or as the Fonz would call it, 'Office!'.
