Re: Tractor from scrap yard finds.
I have been busy, unfortunately not EV based busy for much of it. I have only done this much because it is half term and I am able to pop between lesson planning and the workshop as the mood takes me. College takes up 4 days of the week and although there isn't much college work within that time it ...

Re: Tractor from scrap yard finds.
While the weather has been georgeous today (well relatively so for a February day in Manchester) I decided to do a bit of work on the tractor. Re: dc-dc converter
Good video there.
Were all the screws that long? If they were then it is likely that all the DC-DC converters are coming out of the factory like that and it is pot luck if the screw rips into the cap or not.

Re: dc-dc converter
That's not very good. Fortunately you are able to strip, fault find and fix it, and it was a relatively easy fix. If you couldn't fix it yourself then I guess it would be a costly trip back to China and they probably would cover it if you had taken it apart. I will think carefully before committing ...

Re: Are Lift motors Useful?
Yes, they are. But where the AC motor is efficient then the DC series motor the AC controller can be less efficient then a DC series motor controller. In the end the efficiency might not be that different. You do gain regen if you really need it but AC controllers tend to be more costly and DC pm mo...

Re: Are Lift motors Useful?
Yep, I have a few of those still knocking about that I might dig out and either try to sell on ebay or weigh in.
If you have a controller then it might be good operating a lathe.

I go with meeting there anyway and enjoying the music. If there is stuff to discuss then there is always a retreat to the toilet foyer downstairs, or as the Fonz would call it, 'Office!'.
