Hi, Chris. Somewhere along the line, I think I picked up on the fact that you converted a Fiesta to run on batteries, and then sold it on to someone else on the forum here? If so, what was the set-up like? What power motor did you use, what sort of batteries, and what was the top speed/range like? D...

OK... [tiptoes in...] sorry, that was my fault, I guess. Does it help if I mention that the EV I would really like to purchase is the Partridge Wilson ( http://www.topfoto.co.uk/gallery/electriccars/ppages/ppage31.html )? Trouble is, I think I'm 70 years too late... So the reason the Berlingo ...

Thanks, Tim, that's helpful :) . Trouble is, I have so many questions in my head, and conflicting ideas. Like LiFePos seem like a really good idea... but then the simplicity argument takes me to Lead Acid and dc motors - after all, large chunks of our driving involves short trips and low speed town ...

Berlingos and Batteries

Hi, Folks. Second random question... :? I've been looking at Berlingos on eBay and noticed 3 things. 1) They often seem to be sold with batteries that either need replacing, or are getting tired. 2) The penny has finally dropped that they seem to come with NiCads rather than Lead-acid or LiPos or wh...

Battmobile

Hi Folks. I guess this is really a question for Stuart (Mills). I stumbled across an Exeter news item about (yet another) show I missed last weekend; I think it was the Exeter Kit Car Show or something. Anyway, they reported on your "Battmobile" concept car, Stuart. I had a look on your we...

Hi, Denny. I know nothing about this topic whatsoever, but notice that no-one has replied... so I thought I'd comment, and see if we can get someone who knows what they're talking about to answer  I had a quick look around the web and on the forum, and as far as I can see, Manganese compounds ...

Grants for conversion to electric power

Hi, Folks. I came across a thought that maybe a grant exists to encourage conversion of petrol cars to run as EVs. I've made a brief search and only come up with a grant to convert from petrol to lpg. Does anyone know if such a grant exists or used to exist, or is this an urban myth? Regards, David

Hi, Folks. I'm not (yet... ? ) an EV owner, so I don't know if my thoughts count, but that's never really stopped me in the past... Basically, my intention is to aim for an EV as a next purchase, with the following thinking in mind. Firstly, why an EV? Lots of contributory reasons here; cheap...

Thought I'd just pick up on this thread and mention that I came across a copy advertised on the www and for sale in Ardrossan... So I now have a copy :D . As you say, fascinating reading! Thanks for recommending it, folks.
