Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread

Ok, more progress :) Now have the master and slave boards all plugged in and the battery pack installed in the scooter. The reset problem was down to not allowing enough "rise time" for the power to get up to 12V, so a 100ms delay before even initialising the registers etc. has cured that....

Re: Berlingo Maintenance

I wasn't aware that an MOT is optional? Does this apply to all electric vehicles?

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread

Ok, from the datasheet it appears when that pin is configured as ~MCLR it has an internal pullup, so that's that question answered :)

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread

This is running my C rewritten master code Peter - I'm not using the watchdog chip but have the internal watchdog enabled so I think something is causing too long a delay from a hard reset, but a soft reset seems to work ok for some reason. The comms to the video chip are interrupt-driven but I don'...

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread

Just a quick update on my progress: Finally attached the slave board to my 25S pack yesterday. First relief - no pyrotechnics! So time to attach the master and see what I get. Powered up the master, get half a screen and - reset :( But after the reset, screen comes up and reports pack voltage of 84....

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread

Thanks Greg - I've still got a load of 330R resistors left over from my master/slave build, I was going to stick a .1uF across the supply anyway but I'll probably leave the other cap off.

Cheers

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread

You need to add the current limiting resistor and the board also has space for a couple of decoupling caps, see app notes of sensor for recommended values I'm going to be mounting and hopefully testing my current sensor this week, but apart from a .1uF decoupling cap, the application notes on the d...

Re: BMS Basic understanding

If I converted to lithium do the same principles apply? as I know a BMS is an absolute must with them! By contrast, lithium cells will not tolerate overcharge in the same way as lead-acid, so the BMS equalises them by the aforementioned "burning off" of current (although there are other m...

Re: Revolt open source controller

I didn't even know about this project but it does look interesting :)

This appears to be the main site:

Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread

Sent ;)

I was planning on reinforcing the high-current tracks with solid wire/solder anyway, so I'm sure it'll be ok.
