Re: Golf conversion, after a year!

Always thought Trojans were good, and your proving it 8) What would you say is your average discharge from them, it must be close to their C1 rating ChrisB I was basing my figures on the C1 rating divided by miles, but in reality I dont discharge them that deep. I am not sure my E-meter is set up c...

Re: Golf conversion, after a year!

The Golf's back on the road for a month now! The extra 3 trojans bring the pack up to 156v, and the total weight of the car to 1400kg! The original 10 batteries are over 18months old up to around 5000miles and seem to be holding their charge nicely. The DCP Raptor 1200 controller was a piece of cake...

Golf conversion, after a year!

After a year on the road of mostly trouble free driving, I have decided to strip and upgrade my Golf conversion! Covered 4500miles last year, ! In the summer easily covered 30miles per charge and about 25miles in winter temperatures to 80%dod. Quite pleased with the Trojans, although they did go thr...

Re: New to EV motorbikes

I have heard of these types of dramas with dvla from EVcar builders. I just dont understand how they can issue a new V5 for a straight ICE swap, But mess up so much with an EV. I think its down to the simpletons they employ for the job. I have all the original running gear, Frame, Wheels, Forks, Sw...

Re: range extending generator

Ad for investing my money into public charge points, I'm afraid I'm only a hobbyists and not a business or charity. I fully understand... just for the record this charge point hardware costs less than £100 and supports two vehicle charging (1 x 32A and 1 x 13A); http://twitpic.com/3q8jan We have fo...

Re: range extending generator

The Problem with my EV is having to own another car for the extra long trips. Have you considered investing the time, money, and effort in having "Charge Points" installed at the locations that you plan to visit? A 240V 32A "Commando" socket can be installed for very little mone...

Re: range extending generator

Yea, I thought as much. I dont really want to lose the HP/rpm, as I would still require to travel at higher speeds.

So it would be: 2x DC PM generators, probably a cheaper option like the etek's.

or:

11/12KW AC generator, with 2x NG3, 1X NG5 chargers. (I already have the NG3 chargers)

Re: range extending generator

hehe sorry, yea that was a little confusing! I was wandering if one generator producing 200amps at 72v could supply a 144v battery pack 100amps, by splitting the charge 50% to 6 batteries (72v 100A) and 50% to other 6 batteries (72v 100A). I couldnt see how this is possible as all the batteries are ...

Re: range extending generator

hmm interesting stuff. The advantage of using the Picaxe microcontroller is that it directly controls RC model servos and has a servo position command that makes driving the throttle to a known position very easy. These microcontrollers also have analogue inputs and can directly measure voltage and...
