Re: Battery current Output??

Just heard again from hipower. they sujested the following: "First, Using 72V80AH pack, offer nominal 240A current, max 400A current, 72kg weight. for 48 pcs of 3.2V 40AH single cells, each 1.5kg, 64*112*160mm." "Second, Using 72V50AH pack, so peak is 8C could nearly 400A current, nor...

Re: how to improve my range???

Thanks for the tips chris. I have sent the charger to Zapi and in the mean time i have made a few calculations: presuming driving at 100amps, I will draw more under accelerating etc.. So am allowing 150amps at an average speed of 45mph. 82.5ah= battery 1hr rating 82.5 x 120v = 9.9kwh 150 x 120v = 18...

Re: how to improve my range???

thanks for reply chris. I found on the flat she will cruise at 55mph at 100amps. 60mph cost me 130amps mostly I was driving 45-55mph to keep close to 100amp draw. 30-60 seconds pulling 160 amps to climb steep hill at 45mph in 3rd. Think i'll send the charger off to electrofit zapi. They quoted me ab...

how to improve my range???

Passed the MOT last week :D Took it out for its 4th test run. Tried to keep the battery amps draw below 100amps. It achieved 17miles before noticable power drop. (down to 107volts under load) my batteries are 150ah trojan 1275 at 120volts. I think the 1hr rating is about 85ah. giving me 10200wh tota...

Re: Battery current Output??

Anyone familiar with the Hipower cylindrical batteries.

Apparently they can deliver 5C continuous and 10C Max current

Re: Melted battery terminal!!!!

Managed to repair it, pheww! The terminal is actualy quite deep. I drilled and tapped 20mm depth. I think the propem was this battery may have moved causing the cable to twist slightly arching the terminal. Anyway will contact trojan and try and find out how much to torque the nuts up! Does anyone c...

Re: Melted battery terminal!!!!

Well yea perhaps I may have overtightened it. :?

I suspected resistance as it popped under higher current draw. Although i'm only using 35mm cable, thought that would have caught fire before the terminal would melt.

Melted battery terminal!!!!

Just before the MOT tomorrow, I thought I should take it for a test run. OOOPPS! a big flash from the boot, I melted the battery terminal! Was this because the resistance on the terminal was too much, or in the cables? looks like the batteries threaded posts are a bolt moulded into the terminal. The...

Re: Battery current Output??

Just another option I have ben looking at over last few days. A123 Cells Price breakdown to UK is as follows: 50 * 20Ah cell = 2500USD shipping = 280USD paypal commission, 3.4% = 95USD Total = 2875USD or £1775 The basic specs for the cells are phenomenal and the Insight will hardly touch their char...
