Lithium Battery Monitor 48 cell

I have been thinking a lot about the pros and cons of cell balancing. I have also been pondering the ramifications of a BMS fault scenario (fire?). There has also been mention on the web of the BMS current draw contributing to imbalancing of the cells. I will be buying a lithium pack soon and here i...

Re: 8 Battery Lead Acid Slave Board

As I am on the verge of buying a LiFePo4 pack I will not be playing with the lead acid slave board again. The board was never 100% reliable and functional for me. I should have included better decoupling for the MCU. Low pass filtering on the ADC probably should have been implemented. Many other thi...

Re: Recommendations for a 'dry' lead acid battery for EV use

for lithium prismatic cells you should aim for less than 1C average discharge (so less than 100amps for a 100ah pack) to get long life from the cells. Thanks for the advice Greg, I was a little worried about the current delivering capability of lithium. I have the battery current on my controller l...

Re: Recommendations for a 'dry' lead acid battery for EV use

Ok, my batteries are beginning to fade a bit now. When I get home from my daily 25 mile round trip the battery is really weak. I have looked after the battery as best I can but after one year I think it might be time to consider replacement or begging my employer to let me charge at work. Question f...

Re: Hot motor cable on G Wiz AC controller

Perhaps an industrial welding supply shop, they could crimp the ends on a bit of welding cable for you.
You can also get the cable, lugs and a hydraulic crimper on ebay if you fancy a shot yourself.

Re: Who is looking to buy a new electric car this year?

No plans to buy a new car ever. It's not something I do. I'm with Peter on buying new cars. Even looking at the second hand ones, even if I had 20K burning a hole in my pocket I wouldn't waste it on a car. I'd probably waste twice as much to make something inferior myself!............but I'd be hap...

Re: Recommendations for a 'dry' lead acid battery for EV use

Just noticed this thread. I found Sec battery to be fine to deal with. I haven't broken my 160aH red tops yet! My controller is set to 450A max battery current. I do confess to worrying about the prospect of battery death though. When I eventually do break them I'll be doing everything I can to pers...

Re: No Power in my Car

Would it be worth having a look inside the BMS?
You might find it just has shorted input protection diodes or/and blown fuses.
It's a poor show that it can be connected back to front though.

Re: 8 Battery Lead Acid Slave Board

Thanks for the advice gentlemen. I have focused on cleaning up the power going to the master board/monitor. I have installed a common mode inductor thingy (MuRata PLA10) with a couple of caps in front of it, this has helped a lot but I'm sure I can achieve better. Top tip for experimenting is to use...

Re: 8 Battery Lead Acid Slave Board

Oh well, after the excitement of zooming about in my electric car it's groundhog day again. Interference of the BMS is the problem. The master portion of the system is picking up garbage through the power leads and the slaves are having comms problems sometimes, but I'd wager that's due to power lin...
