EV insurance - something gone wrong ?

Postby booboo » Fri Jul 18, 2008 8:05 pm

The insurance for my mini-el is due for renewal next month. Although I've not yet received a renewal letter from my present insurers, I thought I would phone around for a few quotes now rather than leave it to the last minute.

Bit of a shock really , Footman James ,Adrian Flux (http://www.adrianflux.co.uk/milk-float-detail-go.php) and even EV Insurance "Specialists" PlugInSure (http://www.pluginsure.co.uk/) were all either unable to quote or went to ridiculous quotes in excess of £300  , far more than last year. I am now eagerly awaiting the renewal letter from my present insurer to see what they offer

Has anything happened to push the rates up so high ??

Hi booboo

I think I used the same insurance company as you are presently with...they were the cheapest by far, and lovely to deal with too.

Maybe the BVS should look at doing a deal with them, as other specialists don't appear to be able to offer us what we need!

Who is it your using, may be we can get them on board.

Surprised we're getting so many insurance problems with EV's :?

You'd think the more folks got EV's the cheaper it would get................or is it more the case they are getting wise to EV's and bumping the price

I just got a quote for a customer for the Zest for £180 You need to tell them it's not a regular off the shelf car and speak to them about what it is rather than just let them sing off a hymn sheet at you. I had a right to do with Footman James yesterday and I have to say I was very very unimpressed with their big corporate attitude but I did eventually get them to see sense and got a quote though it's unlikley they will win the business. oh and it wasn't them who gave the quote for £180

The company I used was Peter Best, really nice staff, but more importantly they are significantly cheaper than anyone else!
