Cars to Avoid

Postby richard » Mon Dec 29, 2008 2:06 pm

Apart from getiing a small car to fit my needs, manaul obviously are there any cars to avoid for doing a home conversions. I am looking along the small, 4 door, fiesta, peugeot, nissan range at present. I intend to use 80 volt dc forklift motor from the hydraulic circiut if i can as the main traction motor looks too big.I therefore need space for 7 batteries and rest of equipement.

The biggest enemy to an electric car conversion is weight: the heavier the car, the worse your end result will be.

All the cars you mention are fairly heavy for the size of vehicle they are. You may want to consider cars from manufacturers like Daihatsu or Perodua which are considerably lighter.
My new book is out: The 2011 Electric Car Guide is available from Amazon and all good bookshops.
