Electric vehicle charge points on the Roman Wall

Postby Peter Eggleston » Thu Sep 30, 2010 8:37 pm

The Hexham Courant local newspaper carries details of two electric vehicle public charging points which have been installed this week at the Once Brewed visitor centre on Hadrian's wall in rural Northumberland. They are described as being miles from the nearest homes and are to demonstrate that even the North East's most remote areas can be accessed by electric cars. They are looking to the future and predicting that by 2020 over 200,000 people will be using electric cars and will easily be able to reach the Roman Wall, one of the country's biggest tourist attractions. There are plans to install a network of charging points across Northumberland National Park.

Details of the type of plug connection are not given in the newspaper, but I live quite near to Once Brewed, so intend to check out their facility very soon.
