How are you getting on with it ?
ChrisB
It is a company fitted system http://www.solarhomeenergy.co.uk/thermal.html
My practical skills weren't up to the job..
So far we have been really impressed with it, especially during April when we turned our gas system off for a couple of weeks. The solar system managed to cope with three showers and a washing machine load every day.
Cost was an eye-watering £5k , but I did haggle them down from a ridiculous £9.5k

What sort of temperatures are you maxing out at? I've seen 65C three times so far since March and I've only had to boost with the boiler a couple of times. Money well spent IMO.

We've regularly seen temperatures in excess of 70c , without doubt the gas boiler is used a lot less than before the solar system was installed.
But, just like today, there are times when you realise you cannot rely on it alone and still require gas/electric etc..
Hopefully the best weather is just around the corner, and we can shut the boiler off again..

We received the dosh back from the EST within a week of the system being installed but the work couldn't be started until the grant was approved. The company who installed the system even applied for the grant on our behalf.
Took about eight weeks for the grant to be approved then the work started two weeks later and was complete in one day. The cheque from the EST arrived with us the next week. Also worth noting that we never parted with any cash until the system was installed and we were happy with it.
Very happy from start to finish.
