Having had a quick look at the ebay listing, no you're at the limit of the controller and would have to upgrade. For a car of that size, I'd say a minimum of 96 volt and my personal preference would be more like 120 upwards. It does depend on the torque per amp and rpm per volt characteristics of the motor. Since the quoted rated load rpm is quite low, you may have to go quite high in voltage to get a really decent torque spread.

I'd also be a little suspicious of the charger. It say's it's universal, so what current does it put out and what voltage were the batteries actually being charged to?

Hi Guru Paul, and All,

I tried to reply last night but my "better half" switched off the
computer at the wall socket! half way through some questions; my
charger has 6 course and 6 fine buttons for adjusting the Amps, the guy I
bought it of said not to go over 10 Amps, but it will go to 15.

I Have been giving it only 5 amps over night for a "long slow charge"
suggested by Chris B and now it says 3 Amps and is fully charged.

After my first ride in an EV I think they are amazing, it's like magic the
way they go so quietly, it seems unreal.

I found the 4 bad Trojans that are getting hot, but they are cool now at
the 5-3 amp charge, but I would still like to change these 4 for 4 good
second hand one's, the previous owner got these 2nd hand nearly 4 years
ago, so they could be 7 years old, but he didn't know how old they were
when he got them!

If anyone has 4, 6 Volt Trojan Traction batteries or a similar type
please let me know and I will be happy to pay the going rate.

Better send this now before She comes downstairs.

Many Thanks,

Nigel
