2009 Isle of Man TT to Include Class for Electric Motorcycle

Postby Geoff » Fri Aug 15, 2008 11:18 am

"It has been announced that next year's TT races will include a race for 'clean emissions motorcycles'

It is expected that the majority of these will be battery powered

The event will be run after the main TT next June and will include two classes, a pro class where there is no limit on R&D and an open class where the R&D budget will be limited to £30k.

In the first instance the race will be limited to one lap (approx 38 miles) to allow the organisers to assess arrangements for battery swapping pit stops.

The aim of the event is to encourage development of alternatively fueled motorcycles and showcase their abbilities."

There have apparantly been 35 expressions of interest in the race from 14 countries.........exciting stuff
