"Bolt on' Hybrid System for Diesel Vehicles

Connaught engineering have announced a bolt on hybrid system for diesel Ford Transit and Mercedes Sprinter vans.

An 8.7kW electric motor/generator charges a super capacitor during regenerative braking via an automatic clutch and varriable ratio transmission.
On acceleration from rest the motor provides assist to the diesel ICE up to 3000rpm where it cuts out.
Claimed 25% reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
The system is easily retrofitted into an existing vehicle.
I bet it's expensive but it looks like it would be fun to adapt to other applications!!
