What does any one know of this lot ??

They seem to be making some odd claims about charging and range, its really quite bizzare.

Article in the Sunday Times mentions a charge point roll out at Little Chefs, with odd things like a full charge giving a 100mile range for £8 £8 for what ?? how does that work then ??? surely the range is all down to the vehicle not the charge ???

Else where I've seen things like ..........

We will deliver the latter starting this year, with a fast paced roll out of charging points that can fully charge a typical EV within 60 minutes, about the time of an average shopping trip. Our initial ambition is to see us install one million points across the UK.

............so how does that work then with say a berlingo or a G-whiz ?? it all seems like a lot of PR but little is actually understood about your run of the mill EV that you buy.

Any thoughts ??

Yes, it does seem intriguing.

I have just given them a bell and invited them to send someone along this Saturday to our EV conference (ElectraCon) so that we can find out more about them informally.

It would be interesting to hear more about what they have in mind.

I will say they do seem to be one of "many" of these types of firms who are jumping on the EV band wagon.

Maybe they are signing up to the CHAdeMO Fast Charge Protocol (and hardware?) that Mitsubishi (iMiev) uses - full charge in 30 mins - 50kW output from 3 phase 240V supply. ESB ecars in Ireland are using these for their recently announced nationwide fast charge infrastructure.

Had the web site you posted put a bit more info on it I would have posted the same link. Unfortunately, it is a very lacking and still under development esp the full protocol including connector design (subject of another Japanese standard so probably available elsewhere) but mainly all the codes etc used. If Ireland are going to use it for their massive EV infrastructure plans (http://www.esb.ie/main/press/press-release364.jsp ) then it's a fair bet it will catch on elsewhere too.

It'd be nice to be able to include the kit required on ones EV conversion. Shouldn't be too expensive to implement:- a simple MCU based box with a couple of relays and the connector should be that's required.

I've emailed the Mitsubishi i-miev lady to see if she can ping me any more info - not holding breath!
