Hi Matt

Thanks for the instructions,when the garage took the motor off the internal spines on the coupler were damaged,finding it hard to get someone to repair it.Also had same idea as genawin using clutch plate centre.Not sure quite how it would be attached any ideas

I would probable look at cutting and turning both pieces and then welding them together , not sure until i've got it in front of me might change my mind depending on the hardness of the clutch center.

Hi Matt

Had my car back today seems to be ok,the garage had a complete new coupler made up,useing the clutch plate center and they took a couple of photos.Hope this helps anyone who has same problem.

Similar - looks like they did a good job - i bet it will last longer than the original as those clutch centers take a lot of punishment.

Hi John,

I am glad you got the car back on the road and it looks like a great job.

All you need to do now is get genawin to reprogram your controller to give you a bit more pep and turn up the regen.

Do you know what voltage your car is? Could you post the voltage the car is at when it is fully charged - we might get an idea of if the car is getting a full charge or not.

Hi Matt and genawin can't keep calling you that what's your name? glad you both think my garage done a good job,that would be great if genawin could reprogram my controller but i think he is too far away and could not expect him to come up here to solihull.I have just finished changing the car and voltage reads 86.1v.so is that good or bad? Oh well just got to recover from the bill from the garage £512

Hi John, £512 - that is a lot to have to swallow. Mine cost me £450 when I had my coupler done.

I think that the 86.1 volts is a bit too low. My car has 25 cells and the finishing voltage is 102 volts so that is about 4.1 volts per cell. I think it might be worth turning the charging power on and off a few times to see if you get a slightly higher finishing voltage. I only suggest doing this as I know the charger powers on until the BMS tells it to turn off. Might be worth a try.

I know from watching the end of the charge cycle on my car that it will hold at 84 volts for some time and then the coltage will climb steadily over about 15 minutes to the 102 volt mark. So 86.1 volts may be say 97%+ charged.

I know with the colder weather approaching that the battery voltage will sag more when driving. what sort of voltage do you get when you are pulling full power from the car? I know at the moment, when I take my car off charge it is 102 volts. For instance tonight we popped out to the shops and with the heater on and a few miles in to the drive the voltage was as low as 71 volts under load. As soon we we parked up the voltage was resting at 82.5 volts - which is what I consider the nominal voltage of the battery - 3.3 volts per cell.
