Difference between 32 & 25 Cell version

Postby mani9876 » Sun Mar 03, 2013 12:47 pm

Hello!

Does anyone know the differences between the 32 cell and the 25 cell version?
I guess there are the same motor and Curtis controller right?

Is there another BMS?
Where are the 7 extra cells located?

Thanks
Manuel

Yes same motor ,controller ,BMS and charger but slightly different set up on the Zivan , 7 extra cells in the spare wheel well

It pushes the Curtis to the limit and goes into overvolt (132v) on every full charge.

Mine is 107 rebadged pre production / test car and there are all sorts of extra wiring on it.

The motors were different on the production versions, with AC35 on 25 cell and AC50 on the 32 cell version. Curtis controller is the same, but with different parameters for a number of the settings. The zivan is basically the same as the BMS controlls the actual charge voltage..
I believe the DC to DC is also different, they have a close voltage range, and the 32cell voltage is outside that used on the 25cell car.

Thank you all for the fast answers!

So even the motor has changed?

Thats why everybody says the 25cell has somehow a sluggish performance?
I wanted to buy a 25cell car and put some extra cells into it, and update some of the Curtis parameters, but if there is the small AC35 motor in it, this wouldn't make much sense, I guess?

Nothing wrong with the AC35, it would perform much better with a higher voltage. Unless you are using the higher power of the bigger motor all the time, there isnt much to be gained. The controllers, apart from the parameters used are the same, so no issue there, but the BMS wont be set up to control the charge voltage, and would need some of its parameters re setting.

So achievable but not really as simple as just adding a few cells to the string.

AC 35
70 horsepower, 129 ft-lbs torque, weight 85 pounds. (approx 9" x 13")

AC 50
76 horsepower, 121 ft-lbs torque,weight 115 pounds. (approx 9" x 14") + $ 300

My choice would be the 35.

Oops! Thank for pointing that out. Nothing you have done wrong. All fixed now as I have upped our limit. You can always embed a picture which is hosted elsewhere if you like, using the [img] tag.
