So again looks like a worn throttle pot issue, lifting the throttle pedal is just enough for it to find a clean bit of track to allow the ECU to pass the throttle position error test.
Of course thinking about it, it might not be a anything to do with the throttle pot itself but the the throttle mech return, if the return spring/shaft or any part of the mech becomes a little sticky and stops the pedal from returning to the off position.
Dave/Tim, you might want to lube up your throttle mech/shaft etc (dont spray anything on the Pot itself though) and try that to see if the pedal moves better.
Also the actual pot is on slotted mount so the neutral point is adjustable
