Maybe everyone was enjoying the day so much they forgot to get their camera out.

Seriously, this has happened to me on several of the c5alive events :D

This link is to our event on the same day, where we switched venue to Crawley. Note there are only a few pictures !

No-one thought to take pictures of the blue c5 trailing a plume of black smoke :shock:

BVS L2B2009 pix... from Ed.

Postby ex925 » Tue Jul 14, 2009 9:46 am

I hope somebody did, 'cos all I seem to have left in my PDA/camera/phone is:
two badly-framed shots of a couple of G-Wizzes "re-fuelling"
Doh, it will likely turn out to have been due to me catching some kind of wrong button whilst trying to transfer the other (only 3 other...) pictures to the PC
Butterfingers?
"Dozey Old Geezer" (me, that is) more likely
However, it is well worth everybody clicking the C5 link
Well done, you guys, there seems to be a few more C5s every time
Really good to see some "classic" EVs in good order and IN USE
Keep up the good work, and -
What about C5 racing, maybe?!!!
(Sorry, bit of a one-track mind, me, race-track, that is, heh, heh, heh,)
Ed.

Thanks for the kind words Ed, most appreciated :)

This might interest you ;

It is being built with the sole focus on getting up "Test Hill" at Brooklands on battery power alone.

http://c5alive.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=244.0

Once that has been conquered, we are toying with the idea of a "Sprint Challenge" for the C5's :lol:

We will be on the M-Benz test track in September for this event;

Sprint Challenge...... from Ed.

Postby ex925 » Sat Jul 18, 2009 8:39 am

As soon as I finish posting this, I will put full details on the topic "BVS Electrathon 2009" of this BVS event, which is at last set to happen, at Shakespeare County Raceway on September 25th. and 26th. this year.

Wouldn't it be great to see the C5s there?

Meantime, looking forward to hearing of your Sprint Challenge. It sounds inspiring. And then... a thought occurred, of which you may well not approve!
Wouldn't a C5 make an excellent basis for a modern update. So much of SIr Clive's team's design is just right, it fires the imagination.

Imagine, a vacuum-formed ABS body, with just enough Kevlar and maybe carbon-fibre strengthening in crucial places like around the openings or planar intersections, a 40a/h Lithium battery, a cutting-edge 36v motor and controller, 27gears....AND MAYBE

Tadpole configuration?!

Heresy?

Maybe so, but, having clicked the links you suggested, I see so much potential in the C5....

Short motor drive-train, greater stability?

AND NOW THE WORST thought of all:
A quadricycle version for Greenpower Racing?
Surely some 'pagan' has said this before?
Have I committed the ultimate offence?

All the best, from Ed.

A modern interpretation of a C5 is something we have been discussing whilst playing with "Project C5".

I have already donated/sacrificed a Sinclair C5 shell so that it can be chopped up and the seating arrangement experimented with.

Once we are happy with a "prototype" design, we are going to look at a monocoque fibreglass body and do away with the separate chassis.

"Project C5" has certainly fuelled some inspiring thoughts about what to do next once we get up that hill .

Sadly I've already committed to a local event for Saturday 26th September so won't be able to come along to the electrathon. It would have been nice to bring "Project C5" along for everyone to look at.

The tadpole configuration would seem to be quite popular already;
