The name MECC seems to have gone quiet, but there ARE Elektrobay/CYC charging posts springing up across Manchester. The grand launch was at the Manchester Central Conference Centre undercroft car park, and I have since seen one at Trafford town hall car park and, just yesterday, Oswald Road Chorlton-cum-Hardy - round the corner from my house!

No word yet on how to get an RFID smartcard for the scheme. I signed up for notifications at http://ev.tfgm.com/charging.html

My big error.
Gtr. Mc'r are not fitting Pod Points so the previous map and site is pants.
Here they are:-

I did ask for a card a few weeks back but they said they were not being sent out yet.
We do need our National data base updating.

Pod Point map is dead. I've been told bought out by Chargemaster who have the Asda stores (use the online store locator) and annoyingly for Nissans they show the Toyota points.

Lots of Love

I have my card. All I need now is a Type 2 plug!

The map has been updated since I last looked. There is a post around the corner from me, on Oswald Road Chorlton which wasn't marked until very recently. Things are progressing well :-)

Tim,
Do you have the J-1772 circuit fitted to control the charger? Seems its possible to fudge it with a resistor and a diode (in the van).
A plain mains plug doesn't have the pins needed but the circuitry and the proper connections would make it safer to use.

Tim you got the card via the CYC "Charge Your Car) website?

"Dear Andy,
This link should take you through to the CYC signup page. Once signed up you will need to register payment details then order a Lifetime Access Card.

If you have any more problems please get in touch.

Kindest regards,
Stephen

BIG NEWS!
This weekend at the Trafford centre there's a formal opening of the charging points around Manchester. There are test drives of electric cars in an overflow car park - if you pre-book. One being a Tesla Model S !!!

On the downside I'll miss out due to EV'ing my way into darkest North Yorkshire (camping) and they will not be handing out RFID cards.

Make an announcement on the appropriate thread if you want :)

From Richard Bates at Transport for Greater Manchester:
Tim,

Thanks for your email, the GMEV Infrastructure launch is happening on Friday 26th and 27th [July] at the Trafford Centre.

We will have a stand within the Trafford Centre with a Tesla and a Renault Zoe on display, and there will be an opportunity to test drive a Zoe in one of the car parks.

We are currently finalising details on the GMEV website, this will be updated later in the week. Please keep checking the website for further details.

Regards

Richard Bates

GMEV Project Manager

and from @KarlBerridge of Tesla UK via twitter
Model S will be on display in the Trafford Centre this Saturday.

System goes live on Sunday, according to
http://www.manchester.gov.uk/news/artic ... _goes_live
The Greater Manchester Electric Vehicle scheme, a new electric vehicle charging point network and pay as you go programme led by Transport for Greater Manchester, will launch on Sunday July 28...

although my card seemed to work in the Exchange Quay charging post last week. I have no Type2 plug to test it properly with.

Richard told me the Model S might be driven, awww! lol

I've got a 62196 to 1772 lead and left the Trafford centre just four hours ago! Do'h!
Ordered the card itself today from CYC.

Slightly off topic, we spied the two posts at Golbourne Adsa car park yesterday then totally forgot who they were. I think Chargemaster. Time to write a sheet with all the phone numbers if they need to be remotely activated. Chargemaster is also PodPoint.

Is chargemaster podpoint? I thought they are 2 separate companies.
