Bristol road run: Sunday 2nd September

Postby anachrocomputer » Sun Jul 29, 2007 5:44 pm

We've been out today and planned the route for the first ever Bristol road run. We chose the route to be easy on the vehicles, so the hils (unavoidable in Bristol) are as gentle as possible. It's in two segments, one starting at the Cribb's Causeway charging point and ending at the Create Centre. The second part, after a lunchtime recharge, will go over the Clifton Suspension Bridge and take us to the Better Food Company, our old monthly meeting place. Each leg of the trip is about 12 miles.

First leg (on Google Maps):

Second leg:

There's a coffee stop at the Toby Carvery in Henbury (near Rectory Gardens) in the morning. There will be three hours to charge at lunchtime at the Create Centre, There will also be an Organic Fair and Farmers' Market at the Create Centre that day.

Emergency charging points will be available on both legs of the journey (from generators on the support vehicles).

Please do take part if you're in the Bristol area, or even if you're not! If you're planning to come along, could you please let us know (either reply in this thread or phone Nikki Gordon-Bloomfield) so that we can make arrangements. We'll be setting out at about 10:30 am on Sunday the 2nd of September, but do arrive earlier if you need a top-up at the start.

Please do come along if you want another chance to do an EV run before the end of the year!

It should be a fun day. There's some really nice views too, including the Clifton Suspension bridge and some really nice views of the surrounding countryside too.

BVS members can do the run for free of course, but like the last run it'll be £20 if you're not a member (but £15 joins you up for a year!!!)

Anyone who wishes to take part but lives a way away? PM me and we'll try and sort out accommodation. (We can probably put two people up here)

The Bristol group are really starting to make inroads into the consciousness of the Bristol population so it'll be a great opportunity to illustrate EVs are good for Bristol!

Please come and support us! :)

By the way - I forgot to mention.

We're going to have some prize catagories on the day which may include...

Furthest distance driven to take part (with support)
Furthest distance driven to take part (unsupported)
The "It's not electric is it?" award (for the person with the most normal looking EV)

    I'm sure we'll think of more ;)

    Nikki.

So, who is coming then?

Form an orderly queue please! The create center is well worth a visit; and if you're in an non ev mode we'd love you to come along for support!

Nikki I'm a bit confused about tomorrow, dosnt take much i know

Or am I just getting my knickers in a twist

You say it starts at the Cribs Causeway but the map link points at Pegasus Road ?? are they one of the same, and is the start 10am or 10.30 ?m I've got two times one here and one on the e-mail ??

I've got all things planned to get there but you know what its like it can all go wrong at the last min, I'll also be bringing a EV but not quite on the normal scale of things
