Question about Vpower batteries (and others)

I notice that Vpower batteries on ebay are getting really cheap. Has anyone tried these? Thinking of getting two 36v40ah ones to make a 72v battery. Am I being unrealistic? They do seem a lot cheaper than Ping, who never seems to drop his prices, while other batteries just get cheaper and cheaper. W...

Re: Sakura S200 battery

electricvehicles The Sukura is basically a poorly made throw-away piece of kit. What do you expect for £450 :?: To be quite honest the Sukura's carbon foot print is larger Kg for Kg that most family size cars. at least out of a Focus of Astra you would get perhaps 12-15 years life. And after tha...

Re: Modding a 'leccie scooter to run without a controller

It was an SW0003 from Jinhua Shiwei, the company that made Swish Bikes. Had an external controller, motor wattage was 800 watts at 48 volts. I think the problem was in the way it closed the circuit to the 12v converter, I'm not sure how it worked exactly but there was an extra connector coming from ...

No, for some models they're just impossible. Ended up having to buy a whole new moped!

Modding a 'leccie scooter to run without a controller

A low tech solution to the controller problem. Gonna cross post this to the Electric Moped forum as well. Hear me out - this may sound loony - but there's an inherent problem with electric scooters as they stand - they have these complex power electronics which need replacing / repairing a lot, and ...

Re: Think I've overfilled my VRLAs

What's your motor's wattage? I'm thinking that mine is low enough that it won't have that problem - he does a 40ah set now, which if it's double the 20ah supports sustained discharge of 2c (80amp) and max discharge of 120 amp, although the safety cut-out would kick in at 100 amp. Oh, and you can get...

Re: Think I've overfilled my VRLAs

Well, I've equalised them, glued 'em down, done a long float charge of about 36 hours (with the scooter charger) and put them back in the bike. I didn't draw off the excess after all - it either wouldnt' have helped or it would have hurt the batteries. Good news: They're in GREAT condition. Almost a...
