Re: Looks like I've fried the motor...

Thank you gents for the advice on the motor removal, I've managed to bribe my two young uns to offer their time this weekend. Grumpy, I've seen your ebay posting, but as Tim mentioned I picked up a low use motor years ago which I can use. Your yard looks like a considerably less cluttered version of...

Looks like I've fried the motor...

Disaster has struck earlier today, looks like I've blown the motor on the van responding to a firecall.... 100% charged, responding as rapidly as possible at the bottom of a 60+ hill there was a bang followed by loss of traction/STOP light on, freewheeled to a stop and no "clunk", on openi...

Re: Renault EV adverts -

A bit of a brain dump here, but you good folk may be interested in the following Renault Kango. We were loaned a kango earlier this year, and in the week I had the vehicle it was a mixed bag - expecially when compared to the B'lingos which are getting a little long in the tooth, and so are looking f...

Chris, yes its that time of the year for us too, I did mean to reply in June...Looks like you consitently get reasonable quotes, maybe it's an age thing :D We have two e500s (one 2 seat, one 4 seat) and a landrover due for renewal with the NFU. They've recently (last year) changed from classing the ...

Re: Tyres

Hi Jeremy, thnx for the reply, it looks like this six year rule is as contenious an issue as ever it was when I first read of it in 2004/5 :? I've finally located what I believe to be a contemporay version of the recommendation I read all those years back (although I think mine wasin the form of a t...

Re: Tyres - check them

We use Michelin Energy saver 175/65r14's. - I used to use Michelins years ago on a high mileage Diesel I ran and found it improved economy by a few % with no loss of traction/ride. Since then I always use Michelins. I mention the size, as we used to swap around tyres/wheel, mostly due to the number ...

Re: berlingo E500 nicads

Hi Chris - No the the top pack has a date of 12/2000 on the side - the failed cells are stamped with #'s 290616 to 290620 (2 8 0616-20?) . Van 1st registered 04/2001 so looks like original pack(s?). Paperwork when we bought this one showed that the first owner (A Scottish housing association) had to...

Re: berlingo E500 nicads

We leave our vans out all year long, in the open, @ c1200 feet (above snow line), on a North facing hill and haven't come accross any battery freezing temp problems. Maybe I've been lucky and ignorance is bliss... That said I've just had to drop the front pack today on one van, 23k miles (14k ...
