Nikki, I did something similar during the winter months but I wedged a piece of packing foam in front of the radiator but behind the grille. That space under the inner floor liner is really usefull, if I need a lot of luggage space I often remove the tray and load stuff directly on and around the spare tyre. Must remember to re pack the jack ect.
