The short answer is yes - its pretty dumb! The output of a simple rectifier without any smoothing is not dc - it has a lot of ripple voltage going from 0 to the peak of the input. The peak voltage of the 230V rms mains is about 325V, so you need to consider what will limit the peak current into the ...

UK price seems to be anybody's guess at present. Somewhere between £12.5k and £25k. I doubt the former and hope not the latter.

Mitsubishi iMEV

A favourable review from an reliable source of the iMeV. Unanswered questions are when and how much in the UK. I'm waiting!

Yes, in the sun black (and any colour) will absorb heat. So overall you'd probably be better off leaving it shiny aluminium and relying on conduction to the ambient air - that's what the fins are for. Unless the surface is very hot the major heat loss is conduction and not radiation especially when ...

Perhaps, depending on the shade, but not as high as a true black body radiator which has an emissivity of unity. So matt black (a non colour) is usually better than anything else which is why most heat sinks are anodised or painted black.

When all else fails there's always brute force!

retepsnikrep: The kit illustration on his site definitely shows the 3 phase wires and the four sense wires like mine. And the controller is quite well sealed.

Unless the kit differs from my complete bike, its a brushless motor. So you can't bypass the controller, though you can bypass the speed control resistor. However mine's already screwed up to the limit to get the legal maximum of 15mph. My controller seems to limit the current to 12A not the 15A he ...

I bought the Cruiser (top centre picture on his home page) from him last year with the 10AHr pack complete for £520. Some quality issues with the controller box and I had to screw the preset up to get the right speed. The supplied controller hard limits at a little over 10A so hill climbing is no...

I had a professional quote for £9000! It might have saved me £80 - £100 a year at best. I just laughed (quietly).

Prices from £1195. Lithium is extra - price on application. 6 weeks delivery (ie shipping from China).

They seem to be new. I might go up and have a look sometime - assuming that they actually have any.
