Good link to convert EV skeptics

We may be excited about upcoming EVs for the public like the 2-seater New Th!nk City (62mph 110 mile range) and Smart ForTwoEV (72mph 70 mile range), but as many on this forum know, the Toyota Rav4 EV had seating for 5, a range of 100-140miles and a motorway speed of 70-odd mph. Please send this lin...

Th!nk website updated

Their site has been updated slightly, with some sound effects and a nice little interactive 360 degrees spin of the car. The specifications are also posted in detail on one of the pages including anticipated range in summer with air con, in winter with heater and lights on permanently, etc. As for m...

Remember EV1

Onew of the main reasons EV1's were successfully killed is because they kept the genie in the bottle and refused to ever sell em. Ford did the same with their Th!nk in the USA until Greenpeace et al made a big noise and they reluctantly shipped them to Norway where they were seen as less of a threat...

Service costs estimate

I wouldnt want to pay a flat fee for servicing as the parts in the car should be guaranteed for a significant number of years anyway. One of the attractions of an EV is the potential savings of not paying for replacement parts every year, so while the MOT would cost the usual nominal fee plus a half...

Battery concerns

My fear is that if we allow the industry to lease batteries to us now without the option to buy, the money made from owning our cars' energy source will be too lucrative to surrender and will block the desire to develop batteries that last longer than the life of a car. Wheres the incentive for Th!n...

Safety first

Aye, as much as I desire an EV I wouldnt purchase one unless it passed the usual stringent crash tests all other cars have to pass. The Smart EV presumably passes based upon the rating for the petrol version? Or have they removed the steel protection shell for the EV? Th!nk are not gonna release it ...

Th!nk 2 plus2?

If I had to guess you were probably referring to the next Th!nk model? The new City Th!nk looks like a 2 seater to me, with negligible bootspace for anything more than a few bags of shoppin gor a small child lol. I would tend towards the Th!nk due to the prospect of being able to actually buy it to ...

Whos about to kill the Smart EV? Maybe Smart..

£2000 + £375/month for 4 years, after which Smart take back the car with no option to buy sounds like an attempt to protect their petrol car revenues to me. Its GM's EV1/Toyota's Rav4 EV all over again. We need to go on question time and get a major politician to pledge their party will mandat...

Is Smart's EV gonna be mainstream?

You may be right, but Th!nk are gonna lease the battery so although it makes sense to protect the consumer from high battery replacement costs it still keeps control over the EV safely in the hands of the car company and essentially replaces our 80 quid a month petrol cost with an 80 quid a month ba...

EVs only

..If I were religious I would pray that nothing tragic happens to Tesla Motors before they can help make viable EVs mainstream for the world.
