Re: 41.3p per kwh sell back

I asked the same question of the guy who wanted to sell me some. He said, oh its all sealed to stop you hacking into it !. Well its going to be really tricky for them to seal all the input connections to the invertor. I reckon you could just tap into one of the DC inputs and apply your own DC input,...

Re: Solar power (PV)

I guess its about doing the homework and checking with official sources that the FIT is as the salesman says. Then buy from large reputable company. What price have you seen per installed Kwp. Seems its about £5000 !. Another question is the "ugliness" of the panels. Even if the Finaces an...

Re: Solar power (PV)

Yup - its a minefield alright. So what are the claims. Claim 1) For every KwH of installed Solar PV you will get paid a "generation" payment of 41.3p for a guaranteed 25 year period if you install between now and April next year. After then it goes down to 36p for 24 yrs etc... Claim 2) Yo...

Re: Power Gauge

I did check it a couple of times with my fluke and included a couple of .01uF decoupling C's incase of noise on the lines and it read about 1 volt lower than the fluke. It may be just the poor calibration/quality of the Taiwanese panel meter, but it serves as a good indication. I think a 2 pole wafe...

Re: Power Gauge

I have a 0 - 200 volt DC digital voltmeter permanently wired into the top of the controller, under the main connector plate. It maybe about a volt lower reading than true, due to the two series fuses I wired in the line, but is accurate enough for me. I must say - I think I ought to be thinking of a...

Re: Power Gauge

Crikey - I see 150 and below everyday.Today for example I did 15 miles in the morning and then managed to get about an hour opportunity charge, then another 30 miles this afternnon, most of the last 15 miles was at 145 or less and about 5miles from home was at 130 - 135, with 35% on energy gauge, bu...

Re: Power Gauge

As you say interesting. Nicads should only be discharged to 1v per cell and that is 135volts as we have 27 x 5 cells = 135. But as we have 135 cells you only need .05 volts per cell drop to get 7volts difference on the total bringing it to 128. So maybe the measuring isnt too accurate on board. As m...

Re: Power Gauge

Perhaps they all differ Andy. I have never had the yellow "dot" or the charge lamp at below 50% charge. I monitor the voltage constantly and typically these are the voltages. 186v - just completed charge 200v+ - just completed charge and within first mile of home with regen operating. from...

Re: Power Gauge

Hi Tim,
I think its easier to unclip the multiplug and lift it up than disconnect the 12v battery. You dont have to turn the key in the ignition, but I find it seems to have the effect of cutting down the wait time to a few seconds.

Re: Power Gauge

It means the terminal cell voltage dropped to about 123 - 125 volts for a few seconds and this trips the warning lamp. You can trick it but at your own risk as their maybe a cell or two thats very low or possibly reversed. Pop the bonnet and pull the traction fuse. Disconnect the large multi way con...
