Re: Land's End to John o'Groats EV Challenge
I think that with lithium batteries it is technically possible to make a vehicle that will do the whole distance on a single charge. Cedric Lynch. Hi Cedric, I have a vision of you in your bike with cells packed around you and over your head with a space your shape in the middle! I would be u...

Re: Brighton to London "Future Car Challenge"
The entrants have now received a bit more information regarding starting times and news features etc. It appears that the Daily Telegraph will have a Saturday supplement printed exclusively for this event which should be of great value getting the EV word out to the general public. Also, on Friday e...

Re: Brighton to London "Future Car Challenge"
Yes, they are very slow and it has gone through a few major design changes as well which is odd. Designed by committee I guess! By the way, have you received the logging cables yet as the MGTF guy has. I may be travelling soon so I could do with them asap. Also I would like some info about the local...

Re: Brighton to London "Future Car Challenge"
I read the one with the photos. Its a pity the van (the only proper electric vehicle) was hidden and barely mentioned. However it is done, an ICE will never be "energy efficient". We must make sure that on the day that ELECTRIC rules the day and that the old tech stop/start recuperative IC...

Re: Brighton to London "Future Car Challenge"
Great, should be good fun then. There should be some very interesting motors to look at. Pity there are so many stop/start ICE's in there, hardly "Future Car" are they. The Germans have been stopping their engines manually in traffic for donkeys years. Very few private entries eithe...

Free Electromotive Charge bay membership with free lead
Having entered the "Future Car Challenge" which runs from Brighton to London on 6th November, I am planning my route and charge points from Leicester onwards. Noting in the EV-Network site that Mercedes have charge bays at Milton Keynes, half way to London, I requested access to them in Mi...

Re: Charging Points - comments please
Kevin, I am very interested in your work to virtually force charge points to be installed around the country. As a qualified and time served (too long) industrial and once domestic electrician, I offer my services if you require them. The only problem is not having the domestic "part P" la...

Re: Kingston Electric Charge Points
Chris, I know about the IP54 sockets but it is the plug which is unsuitable as it is so prone to damage and very prone to moisture. The 16A plug, whilst not having any seals, has its contact pins shielded from damage and is very water resistant as long as it is not lying on the ground. The 13A plug ...

Re: Kingston Electric Charge Points
.... fortunately, the Tesla dealership is not so short-sighted. Does that mean I can get a charge from the Tesla showrooms in London? I cannot see them on the EV-Network. Actually, I have been there and spent an hour or so speaking to Steven Davies the lucky sales guy so charging shouldn't be a pro...

Re: Brighton to London "Future Car Challenge"
Just heard from my MGTF man that he has gained sponsorship from EDF and has signed up for the event.
Typical that a French company will sponsor an electric vehicle in the UK but neither Eon or Npower even replied to my Emails.
Then again, I doubt that either of them is British owned anyway.
