ElectraCon 2011 - 9.30am-5.30pm

- Our third one-day electric vehicle conference, this time a summer event, and to be held at the prestigious Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester: Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI), Liverpool Road, Castlefield, Manchester, M3 4FP

- A day of Electric Vehicle fun, including talks, a debate, and a chance to get up close to some electric vehicles.

Attendees will include: the general public, BVS members, and representatives from the industry including researchers, designers and manufacturers of cars, bikes, batteries, charging posts, etc.

The provisional programme is listed below. Please be aware that some details are still being finalised, and speakers may be subject to change in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

Hear about how the world’s fastest electric milk-float was designed and built, and find out what other interesting EV projects Kevin as been involved with.

11.45 - Session 3 - Electric Motors - nothing to get wound up about!
There are many different types of electric motors. This talk will show how the same basics of physics apply to all of them, whilst also explaining why different types of motor have different performance characteristics in practice.

16.15 - Session 6 - DEBATE: Electric Vehicles – The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
- Are electric vehicles the answer? Battery power? Fuel Cells? What about how the energy is generated? What should the way forward be for transport in the UK?
The BVS invite the General Public to a free session in which we discuss the advantages and disadvantages of Electric Transport.
