I've just viewed and placed a deposit on this MR2 to do a conversion like this one on diyelectriccar.com but with LiFePo4 batteries.
I should get delivery sorted out this weekend.

Yes, it would be so tempting to have a jet engine whine and whoosh as I drive along and then switch it to a tractor diesel when I am in a dodgy area and need to park up.
I do want to make this my own though and I am tempted to debadge it and replace with my own company logo and decals with a few subtle body mods.
I suspect the wing on the bootlid is more of a hinderance then a help so it may have to go on the grounds of aerodynamics and taste.

Wait and see what it actually sounds like when you finish. Mine already sounds like a jet engine when accelerating.

But does it have the afterburner?
Yes, I'm reluctant to do any more then dream and ponder such things until the car is fully functional. Besides it would be nice to hear the stereo in a sports car for a change.

Ah yes, the stereo, Wifey wants HiFi, now that she can hear subtleties well enough to appreciate it.
I agree about the wing.
Although if it is rubber you might want to leave it there to protect your teeth.
But for sounds, how about this one?
Another sound effect generator
Or perhaps it is more suited for the Blingo
All the best,
Henrik

I'm not sure yet.
I figured that the rest of the conversion and the saving up time will take a while so there is little point in finding batteries just yet.
I am just basing my workings out on the standard range of yellow cells offered by evcomponents.com. The specifications are sufficient to let me work out voltage, capacity, weight and physical size at this stage and then fine tune it closer to the time. Also I am looking at your importing experience to see how things pan out in the longer term for you and then I may take that as a starting point to import my own.
I am working on an arbitary 45-50 cells at 3.2 volts and 160-180 Ah for my general calculations. That will give me 144v to 160v but that will also depend on the motor I am able to get and the controller I can afford
