Well, I have discovered that the heater in my car does not work. I have contacted ECCPLC about getting it replaced and they have quoted me £1150 to do it !!!!!!!

Does any one know where I can source a replacement heater unit. I believe it is a 100 volt unit that heats the water and pumps it around to use the existing heater matrix that was originally in the car.

You can get such heaters, there is a number of simple "Block Heaters" that pre heat the engine before use. Ones for American usage are 110volts and they are basically turned on at night or early in the morning so that the engine is up to temp when you want to use it.
Other options are the in radiator heating elements used in bathrom heaters. Not sure with these how an AC unit would work on DC. As an alternative a number of Peugeots and Audis
use a version of a sort of Diesel pre heater to warm the block/ cooling water to help get the engine up to temp faster / reduce emissions. The Peugoet one in Partners is a nice unit with 4 heater plugs in it.
There are a number of options just depends on the physical constraints you have. Use the American Ebay, they have all sorts of such gadgets in "Block Heaters"

Interesting as the version I test drove I'm sure had a ceramic hot air heater

Is it worth pulling it off the car and having a look at the reason why its not working, could be something simple

Chris - that is my intention. I have got tomorrow of work and that will be one of the jobs to do. It will give me a chance to get the details of the unit to see if I can get a replacement.

They told me today via email that it would not be replaced under the cars 3 year warranty - even though the car is only 2 years old.

Still, I love the little car and am always finding excuses to use it !!!!

mmmmm so what on earth is covered then not very clever if you ask me, their not going to make friends working on that principle

I'd pull it out and investigate the issue, you might find its something really simple at the end of the day
