Rear doors and interior light

Postby ChrisB » Tue Nov 20, 2007 6:45 pm

OK nows its winter time it would be really nice if the dam light in the load bay area came on when I opened one of the back door, thing is it dosnt  not I've had a root about and so far cant find any switch on the rear doors, if I open a front door then the cab and the rear light comes on but if I just open a rear door nothing comes on.

So what does your one do and have you any idea where the switch is that turns the light on and off when a rear door is opened

Cheers

Perhaps it's time to put a switch in?

If you can't find one then I reckon there can't be one. You should be able to get such a thing from a local autofactor without too many problems.

Sorry Chris my daughter has the digicam so I can only describe where it is.

If you open the RH rear door and look on the door reveal there is a black plastic grill about 6-7 inches long at about the same height as the top hinge. The switch is located just above this grill in a hole in the metalwork on the van body.

Thanks John

Right so I aint got one  not even a blank hole

Had hoped it was in the door close mech or similar , dont really want to go drilling holes into that area as I cant get to the back of it

Ah well back to the drawing board, just I want to switch on the newly installed double florry fitting thats now in the back so I can see what I'm doing in there rather than grovel around in the dark with a 8watt bulb

You can get to it on mine as I routed some cables for the rear speaker pods and the wires go through the box section and come out at the junction of the box and the body panels. If you have the trims there you pop them off and you can threddle a wire through.

Oh yes I can see that I could threadle the wires to that area but as theres not even a hole I dont think I'll be drilling into the body work

I think I'll look at some micro switch thingy now

I faced the same question a little while ago and in the end just switched the light on using the switch on right hand panel near the roof.
